A little glimpse behind the cabinet…
There has always been something fascinating about the strange, the unusual and the easily overlooked.
A delicate moth resting on a leaf. An old bone discovered on a woodland walk. A forgotten object with a story of its own.
These are the things that caught my attention long before Evil Eye Curiosities existed.
And eventually, that fascination became something I wanted to share.
Welcome to Evil Eye Curiosities
Evil Eye Curiosities is my little corner of the natural-history world - a place for entomology, framed specimens, curiosities, oddities and all things wonderfully unusual.
What started from a love of hiking and collecting the skulls and bones I found along the way has grown and evolved over the last 10 years, finding a huge love for insects in the last few years. My love of collecting bones and skulls and my love of insects and natural history has developed into a collection of pieces created for people who, like me, find beauty in the things that are a little different.
I love the idea that something which might otherwise be overlooked can become a fascinating piece of art, a collection or part of a conversation.
Why Insects?
Although I do still work with skulls, bones and other nature finds, insects are my main focus! There is something almost magical about them!
They are tiny, they are intricate, and they are incredibly diverse, yet we often walk past them without given them a second thought - or even noticing them at all.
The colours of a butterflies wings, made up of thousands of tiny scales. The jewel like colours of beetles. Even the smallest specimen can reveal some incredible secrets, and show us an incredible amount about the natural world.
Preserving these details allows us to stop for a moment, look, and really appreciate the magic of nature.
A framed specimen isn’t just a decoration, it’s much more than that - it’s a little piece of natural history.
From Specimens to Curiosities.
Although insects are the heart of Evil Eye Curiosities, as I’ve already mentioned, my fascination does not stop there.
I have always loved the atmosphere of an old cabinet of curiosities - collections filled with natural history specimens, unusual objects , fossils, bones, antiques and things that make you stop and wonder.
That feeling is something I wanted to recreate though Evil Eye Curiosities.
You’ll find framed butterflies and moths alongside other insect specimens, natural history curiosities, oddities, vintage finds, DIY pinning kits, crafting materials and even live insect specimens when I have them available - as I raise a lot of butterflies, moths and other insects too!
Some pieces are beautiful.
Some are strange.
Some are a little bit creepy.
And that is exactly how I like it.
A Sustainable Approach
Responsible sourcing is an important part of Evil Eye Curiosities.
I believe natural history collecting should be approached with care and consideration, which is why I aim to source specimens responsibly and provide information about their origins wherever possible.
I also love giving imperfect specimens a new lease of live - I don’t think something should be discarded just for being damaged. There is beauty in imperfection.
Not every butterfly or moth is perfect. Some emerge with imperfections. Some become damaged during life. A bit of damage doesn’t make a specimen less interesting - they are part of it’s story. These specimens can become unique pieces of natural history art.
Made For The Curious
Evil Eye Curiosities is never going to be about following the most resent trends. It’s about curiosity.
It’s for the person who would rather have a framed moth on their wall than another generic print.
For the collector who gets excited about adding a new butterfly to their gallery wall.
For the nature lover who wants to bring a little of the outside world indoors.
For the person who sees an old bone, dried specimen or strange object and immediately wants to know it’s story.
And for anyone who had ever looked and something and thought:
“That’s actually rather fascinating.”

Evil Eye Curiosities is still growing, and that’s one of the things I love about it.
